Moving forward with online learning

It has been a while since our last update, and as you all know, much has changed in that time! The world has been hit by a health crisis that has forced the closures of businesses and schools everywhere, including the IB Programme at Ritsumeikan Uji. We sincerely hope that all our friends and community members are keeping safe during this trying time.

Despite the pandemic, all grades in our programme are moving forward full-time with their studies. This has presented a great challenge to us all, but our transition from physical to virtual learning spaces has been smooth and our students are doing very well. Teachers have also managed to turn the situation into an opportunity to try a whole range of new teaching techniques and approaches to keep students engaged and on top of their studies.

As the old saying goes: “When the going gets tough, the tough get going!”

Here are some pictures of the work we’ve been doing.

Mr. Mackenzie demonstrates an experiment to his Physics class from the school lab.

Mr. Gurnick keeps up the pace while teleworking from home.

Students have some fun in Ms. Shimizu’s ZOOM class.

And Mr. Abrahamson gets serious with an important public health message.

Please take care everyone, and we’ll see you again soon!
